V4 testbike spotted at Mugello

The Italian magazine Specialmag was doing a tyre test on the track of Mugello when they discovered that Aprilia was testing their new V4. A team of technicians,engineers and test pilots where doing test runs on the new V4.

They where asked not to take any pictures of the pitbox but they where able to take some low res pics of the bike on the track. Fabrizio Pellizzon and Marcellino Lucchi where the test pilots riding the bike.

There is not much to say about the looks of the bike because it is still disguised as a RSVR.

TEEN BEDROOM MAKEOVER FOR LESS THAN $100

You just decorated the dorm and once you got home, your teen's home based bedroom looked pretty dated in comparison. We know you blew the budget on stuff to decorate her home away from home. With several days work, working about an hour at a time, you can have your teen bedroom makeover done in less than a week and at a budget price. Won't she be surprised when she comes home for break? Here are some ideas on how to get started.

CHEAP TEEN BEDDING and ACCESSORIES
Bedding might be the most expensive decorative stumbling block that you encounter on your way to an extreme budget minded teen or tween bedroom makeover.

There are several ways that you can clear this hurdle and still have professional looking results and the funky bedding that will impress your daughters teenybopper friends.

• Buy yards of fabric in a wild print and make your own duvet cover. This is an easy do it yourself sewing project even for amateurs and what a bargain! We actually made a duvet cover out of three coordinating fabrics and got it all done for less than $10 because we had several lengths already on hand that were leftover from some curtain panels. We used the worn comforter for the filler for the duvet as there was nothing wrong with it, it just needed an update.

  Using more of the fabric that we had on hand we used a staple gun to whip up an easy canopy that we hung. We attached it to the ceiling with a hook that had previously been used to hang a pot plant on the patio. We painted the hook black with spray paint and gathered the canopy by tying a tassel on the loose ends.

  The décor called for a taller bed platform, so we jacked up the legs of the bed using some scrap lumber to make blocks of identical height placed under each after we removed the wheels. This raised the entire bed frame a few inches over a foot. This was the perfect height for some under the bed storage boxes.
  
  
• 
  Valances and decorative pillows came from the same fabrics that were used to make the duvet cover and pieced bed skirt. We simply covered the old pillows with the new fabric and added some fringes, fur and other fun notions.
  

So, there you have it! Teen bedroom makeover ideas that will get the job done on the cheap! Even if you don’t have yards of curtain fabric lying around you can pick up remnants or fabric that is the last on the bolt at the sewing center for a few cents on the dollar. Lime green or neon orange crushed velvet will perk up the most common cotton prints when paired with gold or faux fur trim. So don’t let your teen reject the layout based on any one fabric!

So far as pink and black bedding for teenage girls that would be be perfect for teens and tweens, you have several fabric prints to choose from. Not many, but a few.

That's why you have to love the ingenuity that the manufacturer displayed when they rolled out not only a

My Decorating Project Gone Down the Tubes

If anybody's wondering why I haven't posted any new teen decorating stuff in the past week, it's because first and foremost my mom has been sick and needed my help. But if she had to be sick, it couldn't have come at a better time.

I needed a break. You can tell when you need some time off when you jump into a project and NOTHING goes as planned. I was hanging a fabulously beautiful pair of multi-colored silk drapery panels on some hammered iron rods and rammed a hole in the girl's wall. Yep, poked a hole big as a fifty cent piece right through the drywall and was that child ever miffed!

She calmed down once I offered to pay for the damage, but not a lot. To change the subject I told her we could spend the day together on Saturday shopping at one of my favorite wholesale warehouses and gather some decorating ideas for the rest of the bedroom. Whew. I don't want to lose a friend over a piddly hole in the wall!

We are going to look for some fabric to upholster a headboard for the bed. The wooden base has already been cut in a WILD shape and I can't wait! I advise all mothers of teen girls to consider a padded headboard as part of the bedroom decorations! The advantages are that they screw securely to the studs in the wall and you can match the fabric to the bedding and curtains.

Aprilia 2008 news for the American market

Last week there was the dealer meeting for the American Aprilia dealers with some news about the 2008 model range.

2008 Street-legal SXV/RXV, big gas tanks, new seat, revised suspension settings, new cold start lever, new throttle cam, no selectable mapping (as far as we saw or mentioned). Same engine specs as second batch 07s. Production issues have been addressed since very early 2007. 30 day warranty on de-restricted versions just like current bikes.

08 SXV in action at Alpi Del Mare

This weekend’s Grand Prix of Alpi Del Mare had a few surprises to show the 6000 spectators, who saw both Bernd Hiemer and Jerome Giraudo come back to the podium. Offcourse the Aprilia of Road team was present with the SXV in the new 08 colors!

S1 Heat 1

Thierry Van Den Bosch was the winner of the opening moto, where he worked his way up after Adrien Chareyre’s holeshot. VDB moved past Thomas Chareyre and started to chase early leader Adrien, who slowed down at the sky section, but Thomas moved in front of both. Unfortunately the younger of the Chareyre’s had a technical problem and dnf’d; the battle was again between Adrien and VDB, but the latter passed and pulled away with the lead, leaving his rival behind in second place. Jerome Giraudo secured the third place after he got rid of a strong Ivan Lazzarini

S1 Heat 2

Thomas Chareyre was a man out for revenge in this heat, and once he got the lead at lap four, he never looked back at his brother Adrien and rode to a well deserved win. With Adrien finishing second, VDB showed a perfect demonstration of the champion’s attitude, rejoining the race from 12^th place and working his way up to an eventual eighth.

Christian Iddon of Aprilia Off Road came back to victory in the 2nd heat, which was his second of the season after Torino’s maiden triumph. TM Factory’s Davide Gozzini, who won the latest GP in front of Iddon, brought the bike home in second place ahead of CH Azzalin’s Gerald Delepine, who fought his hardest despite a problem with the plastics of his bike in heat one. Attilio Pignotti lost the red plate, which is now Delepine’s, and also ended his four podium row by finishing fourth overall, ahead of Nestor Jorge.

Finally some good results for the Aprilia MX team

On Sunday, September 9th, the 7th trial of the national Belgian Motocross Championships place at Opr Le Grand saw Cedric Melotte and his Aprilia twin as protagonists. Melotte’s season was supposed to end at the Holland Grand Prix, the last engagement of the international calendar, but the push from friends and fans led him to participate in the race just days before he is set to undergo surgery on his right knee (injured at the start of 2007).

Melotte and the official MXV 4.5 presented themselves to the Belgian public by winning the pole position. Cedric marked the best time (1:56.172) that was also the top time in the MX1, finishing ahead of a slew of official riders.
In the first of the three heats, Melotte took off in 8th place and made his way up to 2nd place. Then his front wheel lost traction as he went into a curve and he ended up on the ground. Getting back up, he closed out the heat in 4th place and marked the fast lap.

In Race 2, he took off in 7th place and recuperated position after position before climbing to the 3rd step on the podium. He jumped out of the starting gate in 2nd place and soon commanded the race with more than four seconds of advantage on his closest competition. The ride that seemed a heat victory was rudely interrupted by a stone that caused him to fall. However, Melotte jumped back on the bike and was able to finish in 5th place.

If plain brown, cream and tan cheetah print is hot this fall, pink cheetah print is SO HOT IT'S BURNING UP! Teen and tween girls are on fire for funky bedding with modern pink prints like pink camo bedding and now here's the latest trend in wild animal print fabrics: PINK CHEETAH!

This set comes in all sizes from twin to full and has lots of decorative accessories, some I love and some I'd change. The purple or pink round flokati faux fur trimmed pillows and rugs can hang, and I love the gauzy pink canopy over the upholstered headboard. I think that I would mount two antique gold cheetah (or lions or tigers) heads on each side of the headboard to use as tiebacks for the canopy panels.

I would drape the fabric over the sides and let the animals faces peek out from under rather than to use the headboard of the bed for this purpose. The dramatic effect of the canopy is lost somehow as is the pretty padded headboard.

I think that the bedroom in the pictures was decorated for a tween or a very young girl, but with some exotic accessories and a quick makeover it could be made into something fabulous for teens and even college age girls.

The curtain valance or drapery panels could be changed and the cheetah wallpaper border would have to go as well if you are using the cheetah print bedding for an older girl. I might go with a purple bedskirt, too.

All in all, pink cheetah print bedding is hard to locate and this is a set for a very cheap price. So if you have to change things up so be it!

Go wild and have fun with it by bringing in some seriously sexy elements in jungle animal motifs and other decorations with cheetah patterns. Dark wood furnishings would ground the animal print and give it a more mature look for the lady with wild animal tastes.

The video shows a little bit of the Aprilia factory in Scorzè,some footage of the dyno room and an explanation how the production of the Mana works inside the factory.

Here's a cool and colorful teen bedroom decorating tip that dawned on me when I saw a big pile of neon colored flip-flops on the end of season closeout sale table at the local discount store. I was cruising down the aisle looking for some accessories for a lime green and orange bedding set and I had my radar set as such. When what do my wondering eyes appear but hot pink, orange, purple and lime green flip-flops for sale at deep discount prices.

When I say deep discount sale prices I mean DEEP discounts. My mind began to race and come up with cool teen bedroom decorating ideas for these cheap shoes in all the right colors.

What I came up with was some ideas to use big brightly colored flip-flops as wall decorations and I plan to try to use them to decorate a plain white ceiling fan. When I laid out the flip-flops I thought that they would lend themselves beautifully to a 60s theme bedroom. I can imagine them glued to the wall in a swirling vortex arrangement over the head of the bed or at some other part of the room where a focal point might be necessary. I could use the larger sizes in one color gradually decreasing the sizes the closer I got to the center of the spiral.

Another idea I came up with was to remove the plain white blades of the ceiling fan and hot glue a flip-flop on the side of the blade that faced the floor. One problem I might face with this particular decorative application would be if the additional weight upset the balance of the fan's operation. If the ceiling fan was not used regularly, there would be no problem whatsoever with gluing all the decorations for your particular theme onto the blades. Take care that you use a strong adhesive to glue the decorations to the blades. If the glue failed, your cute decorations could become flying missiles and that would not be cool at all!

I’m considering decorating the fan in a beach theme room that I’m working on for a friend’s teen daughter. I’m going to use seashells along with the flip-flops in the room as the fan is for decoration only. It doesn’t operate, so I can do all kinds of fancy embellishing along with painted pictures of crabs, fish or whatever.

If I have enough flip flops left over, I’m going to use them in a 60s theme room straight out of a Grateful Dead poster! Jerry Garcia himself would love this funky psychedelic decor that I’m designing! Stay tuned for pictures!

And a custom, personalized look at that. Go ahead, get the go ahead to start stenciling and you might want to consider stenciling the letters of her name on the wall while you're at it.

BLUE and BROWN BEDDING WITH POLKA DOTS!

I couldn't resist including this set of blue and brown bedding covered in polka dots for the teen girl that inherited her mom's impeccable taste. Certainly it's more expensive than your run of the mill bed in a bag set. But as I haven't found anything to compare to the rich chocolate brown and blue in the cheap lines this slightly retro color combination is worth the few extra dollars. Why wait and take a chance on decorating your teen girl's bedroom with a less luxurious comforter and bedskirt set just because it's cheap?

I must confess that I'm not that crazy about the bedskirt they have shown in the pictures. Somehow it doesn't fit into my idea of the best colors to match the comforter and accent pillows. It seems to be an off white fabric with a band of brown at the hem. I believe that I would have opted for a solid color bed skirt with a crisp tailored box pleat over this plain piece with no decorative details.
I suppose you could figure out a way to embellish it with some cording to match the comforter, but I'm not sure that's the best way to proceed.

This blue and brown bedding set with polka dots is a relatively contemporary color scheme. Personally, the colors above are my favorites! If you teenager doesn't like it, indulge yourself. You deserve a pretty bedroom with elegant bedding too!

Aprilia RXV 2008 model released!

Aprilia released pics and info of the new 2008 Aprilia RXV. Looks like they used a lot of info from enduro riders like Stefan Merriman to improve the handling & rideability of the RXV.



A nice improvement is the ability to switch between 2 different ignition maps on the ECU with the touch of a button. A "fullpower" map to use when conditions are optimal and another "soft" map with smoother engine characteristics for difficult terrain and low speed slippery tracks.



Changes:

-New graphics & colors
-Red/black seat
-Dry weight reduced by 4kg
-New tank
-New handlebars
-Improved suspension
-Option to switch between ECU maps (fullspeed & soft)with the click of a button
-Better maintenance intervals: race use was 45 hours now 75 hours.
Normal use 75 hours becomes 150 hours.
-New sponge air filter
-Option of the newly developed Arrow exhaust
-Euro3 homologation

Aprilia of the Week: RSX550

This week we have a RS125/SXV550 hybrid from Germany. This bike was build by Aprilia Germany's press spokesman Tommy Bayer. As a big time rs250 fan he couldn't hold out any longer and wanted a nice 130kg 70hp trackbike to play with.


So in a couple of weeks a front frame for the rs125 race fairings was build. Also the rear suspension got shortened for race track use. The front fork was replaced by a showa unit from an RSVR1000. Various other parts like the oil tank,rear subframe,gastank and some other parts had to be adapted/remade.


The result is a beautiful 134kg trackbike with a 71hp twin engine. Sounds like a fun bike to ride doesn't it? If you can read german the full article by Motorrad can be found here

Another Aprilia double at Misano

Reigning 250cc world champion Jorge Lorenzo took another step towards the 2007 world title with his eighth victory of the season, at Misano, on Sunday.

Home hero Andrea Dovizioso stole the lead from Lorenzo into turn one, and the Spaniard was later briefly bumped down a further position by arch-rival hector Barbera.But the #1 soon regrouped and began a thrilling dice with Dovizioso, which ended prematurely when Dovi's Honda ground to a halt with mechanical problems.

Lorenzo was unchallenged thereafter, with KTM team-mates Hiroshi Aoyama and Mika Kallio overcoming Barbera to battle for the runner-up position. That battle also ended early, in spectacular fashion, when Kallio suffered a huge highside.That allowed Barbera to regain the final podium position, but only after holding off class rookie Thomas Luthi and home star Alex de Angelis at the line.

Lorenzo, set to join Italian legend Valentino Rossi in the factory Yamaha team next year, celebrated his win by dressing as a Roman Gladiator - complete with helmet, body armour and sword! The Fortuna Aprilia rider is now 54 points ahead of Dovizioso in the title chase, with five rounds remaining.

Mattia Pasini has taken his third victory of the 2007 125cc season with a dominant home win in the San Marino Grand Prix at Misano

Pasini took the early lead from third on the grid, then recovered after being bumped down to fourth to make a clear break by the halfway stage of the 23 laps.

The Italian, whose world title hopes were smashed by an appalling run of bad luck earlier in the year, went on to take Aprilia's 100th 125GP win by 4.774secs - while a furious four-rider fight for second ended with three of them on the floor!

Pole sitter Lukas Pesek was the first to go, after falling on his own, leaving Simone Corsi and world championship leaders Gabor Talmacsi and Hector Faubel to fight for the remaining podium places.

With two laps to go, Talmacsi edged inside team-mate Faubel, who then clipped the back of Corsi - bringing them both down. Talmacsi was thus left to collect second place and the world championship lead, by 10 points, while Corsi was out on the spot and Faubel out of the points.
